Web Monitoring Tools
Web monitoring Tools are a number of tools used by webmasters to ensure that websites are up without interruption and without speeds slowing with minimal downtime.
With websites being available worldwide on a constant basis it is important that they are available to anyone whenever they want to use them though at the same time it is important that the wrong people don’t try and use websites in other ways so web monitoring tools also ensure that no-one has, hijacked or hacked a website.
Website hacking can sometimes be people accessing data on your server they shouldn’t but also them editing your site which could for example see hackers redirect your traffic or steal what should be secure information entered by users, including credit card details. Not only could this ruin a website’s reputation it could also lead to expensive lawsuits if the webmaster could have used better security.
Hijacking is a slightly different problem but sees your website being taken and duplicated often in such a way that search engines think your website ist he duplicate resulting in your site crashing to the bottom of Google’s results.
Web monitoring tools can check on many other things for you as well that affect your website including blacklistings by search engines, search engines marketing your sites as spam or using black hat techniques and removing them from or demoting them in results. This is the last thing you want and an urgent thing to fix quickly if you don’t want your website left without any traffic.
Page speeds are often not thought about by webmasters, with much of the website in their computer’s cache they are unlikely to spot suddenly slow speeds on a specific page or the website as a whole while customers are getting fed up and going elsewhere. Web monitoring tools can not only alert them to a slow page but also identify the problem’s cause allowing for it to be quickly fixed.
So having shown that there is more to web monitoring tools than just if your website is there or not back to the actual up-time, all these other uses seem important but are nothing compared to having a website that is rarely there. Once you consider lost revenue, wasted promotional spend, lost customers and lost future business and loss of search engine rankings regular downtime can ruin an online business while oblivious owner could be left scratching there head as to what happened to their sales. Web monitoring tools send alerts and report on how much downtime there is allowing websites to at least complain to if not change their hosting provider.
With many web monitoring tools being easy to install with easy to use features and often with free trials it makes sense for webmasters to take a look at fixing the problems that could be effecting their bottom line.

What is Server Monitoring Software
Server monitoring software can be a worthwhile investment for webmasters then as it can notify them if their servers have problems. Most servers being remote to the webmaster isn’t a problem as the software can monitor servers wherever they are and send out alerts. These alerts can either be via software on their own PCs or using a remote monitoring service that can notify them by phone, e-mail or SMS.

Windows Server Monitoring
While a windows server will rarely be sat at even by a technical or network manager and may even be remote its functions are vital to the users of the networks based upon it and not just that it is running but that it is running well and everything works as it should. Many offices without a full time network manager can waste hours of valuable time if a server isn’t working as it should and though windows server software is reliable to a point it is far from fool-proof.

Server Uptime Monitor
Server up-time monitors tell webmasters one of the most important things they need to know on a constant basis, whether their website is available or not to their customers. With a bricks and mortar store it is usually obvious to its staff whether it is open and even the owners will usually find out quickly if for some reason it isn’t. This should be just the same for an online store especially as a missing website can lead regular shoppers to wonder if the shop has closed down.
