What is Server Monitoring Software
All webmasters, with sites either commercial or otherwise, want some kind of response from their visitors. Be it buying something, reading something or performing some kind of action, they put a lot of effort into getting the right visitors to their website and designing the site to try and get them to do the right thing. Often this is at great expense particularly with e-commerce and other commercial sites who often spend thousands on promotion. Imagine then how much they could be losing in sales and wasted ad spend if they are sending visitors to a site which isn‘t actually there.
Servers going down, which can be for a number of hardware and software related reasons plus human negligence, is a major issue for webmasters. It may seem strange that webmasters wouldn’t realise but except for updating them or dealing with orders, often website owners wont go on their sites too often and if they have a few websites it can be difficult to keep track. What is more no webmaster can keep an eye on their websites 24 hours a day seven days a week, at night and on weekends downtime can go without being picked up and for some sites this can be expensive.
Server monitoring software can be a worthwhile investment for webmasters then as it can notify them if their servers have problems. Most servers being remote to the webmaster isn’t a problem as the software can monitor servers wherever they are and send out alerts. These alerts can either be via software on their own PCs or using a remote monitoring service that can notify them by phone, e-mail or SMS.
This software generally costs a small amount, though is available as freeware as well, as do the services offered externally, sometimes charged per notification. The amount of business that could be lost though is often very high in comparison and so it is up to the website owner to look at and decide if they want to take the risk.
Also how well can a website’s owners trust their hosting provider, an hour of downtime here and there may go unnoticed but it all adds up and can cost sales, and what about regular website users? If a website is often inaccessible this is the perfect time for them to go elsewhere and they may not come back.
Google and other search engine’s robots wont think much if they go looking for new content on a website and find instead its not there anymore ,this can dampen your search engine rankings, just another cost to having a website down which may not be obvious at first.
With server monitoring software available for all types of servers including http, my sql and email servers it suits all types of websites and other online services.

Windows Server Monitoring
While a windows server will rarely be sat at even by a technical or network manager and may even be remote its functions are vital to the users of the networks based upon it and not just that it is running but that it is running well and everything works as it should. Many offices without a full time network manager can waste hours of valuable time if a server isn’t working as it should and though windows server software is reliable to a point it is far from fool-proof.

Web Monitoring Tools
Web monitoring Tools are a number of tools used by webmasters to ensure that websites are up without interruption and without speeds slowing with minimal downtime. With websites being available worldwide on a constant basis it is important that they are available to anyone whenever they want to use them though at the same time it is important that the wrong people don’t try and use websites in other ways so web monitoring tools also ensure that no-one has, hijacked or hacked a website.

Server Uptime Monitor
Server up-time monitors tell webmasters one of the most important things they need to know on a constant basis, whether their website is available or not to their customers. With a bricks and mortar store it is usually obvious to its staff whether it is open and even the owners will usually find out quickly if for some reason it isn’t. This should be just the same for an online store especially as a missing website can lead regular shoppers to wonder if the shop has closed down.
